Coffee and I go way back. In college, I used the drink to keep me awake during trying (and boring) exams and lectures. And now, if you ever need to find me at work, you'll probably catch me near the company coffee machine, where I'll be gulping down cup No. 5 sometime around noon (not recommended). Although I go a little overboard with my coffee consumption, a cup of joe (or three) daily might actually be good for you -- especially for the ladies. A new study out of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in Spain shows that women who reported drinking two to three cups of caffeinated coffee a day had a 25 percent lower risk of death from heart disease. In honor of this blessed beverage, I've decided to write a little something special to my partner in crime:
Dear Coffee,

I hope you're faring well. My body is doing great -- thanks for asking. It's been such a long time since we last saw each other; 30 minutes feel like an eternity.
I admit we've had our highs and lows. When I first see you each morning, I'm elated. My body is wide awake, ready to tackle the day ahead. But then, a few hours pass and so do your effects. I'm no longer the happy-go-lucky fellow from the morning. Instead, I'm irritated -- not to mention sleepy.
It pains me to tell you, but I've been unfaithful. Ever since the new coffee machine arrived at work, I've been forced to choose among you, hot chocolate, mocha and something called "French Vanilla." I couldn't resist the novelty; I tried French Vanilla -- and liked it. I'm sorry, I really am.
Yet, I always find myself coming back to you. I don't know whether I love you because of your similarity to crack (legality aside), but there's something that not even French Vanilla (Oh, what a temptress!) can take from you.
In the end, you'll always be my boo. I know that somewhere in that big coffee bean heart of yours, you'll forgive me for my past mistakes. Let me make it up to you. In fact, I think it's time for my next cup.
Yours Always,
G.

Since my doc ordered me to tone down my caffeine consumption, I have been a great fan of tea...not the wimpy herbal teas, but REAL tea from 'camilla senesis' nope, it aint the latest brit royal family newest "add-on" (NOT that camilla)...
Low calorie (no calories if unsweetened and unmilked or uncreamed) tea be it earl grey, darjeeling, lipton etc...
Once upon a time, the British Empire was so hungry for tea that it conquered India just to feed their habit...Interesting side note
I bet coffee has no interesting side bar compared to the almighty tea....

I feel your addiction!! I,too, have been called a coffee hound and am quite proud of it, I even named my son Joe! (REALLY, IT'S TRUE!) My husband and I are personally keeping the local Starbucks afloat, and know all the baristas by first name.... I could go on and on about my love affair with the bewitching dark brew, but any coffee lover worth their beans can relate, right?? Think I hear the coffeepot calling my name now....

I too love my coffee so much...it is a morning ritual for me to savor and enjoy that first cup, mmmmmmmm. After that I have a couple more during the early morning but then cutoff at noon so I can sleep at night. During the summer I enjoy using my leftover coffee to make iced coffee. 1 part coffee, 1 part skim milk, flavored creamer of choice and let sit in fridge in a big stone mug to really chill then add ice when ready to drink...mmm heaven on earth:):):)
