Would You Like Fries with That? Well, Maybe…

Have you had McDonald's fries lately? Notice any difference? Me either. But, it turns out they are a little different -- a little more healthy. Funny, they don't taste any healthier. I felt just as guilty eating them last time as I ever have.
But McDonald's pulled a fast one on us, people (a good kind of fast one!). According to CEO Jim Skinner, all Mickey D's restaurants are now using trans-fat-free oil for their French fries. In fact, for the past few months, U.S. customers have been enjoying their fried items -- including fries, hash browns, chicken, filet of fish and biscuits -- with zero grams of trans fat, he said at the annual shareholder meeting.
Despite concern that it might change the flavor of their "trademark fries," the company decided to make the change, but not advertise it immediately. Sneaky…
And to make the deal even sweeter, they say that by the end of the year, they'll be switching over to this new oil for baked foods, pies and cookies. We're lovin' it! -- Dorian Wagner, senior copy editor

Thank you. I tip my "hat" to Mickey "D" for this change. Being aware that their fastfood changes will make a big difference with the health of our friends and neighbors who eat fastfood. I may even try a french fry or an egg and a biscuit the next time I travel. But first I need to know what kind of oil they use!! Can you write about that? Many thanks

Well... it was about time they thought of giving healthy food to their customers who make McDonald's business. I hope they start doing this in Guatemala, Central America, pretty soon!

I was surprised and sadden when one day I decided to spurge on something so naughty as MacDonalds fries only to find a bland tasting substitute! What is this! I invested so much emotionally to leap, not into the pool, but onto the sidewalk. It's a sad day when we can't govern ourselves to eat right and not over indulge in one of lifes simply pleasures!

I'm glad this is happening, I've even stopped taking my kids, cause its so unhealthy, and adults get tempted to eat if they are with children. Maybe we can start going again if its not so unhealthy.

I'm glad that McDonalds changed the fat but people, it is still fat! Zero trans fat does not mean fat free. The foods are still deep fried and still unhealthy.
