I love cheese. I mean, really. I love cheese. I will never turn cheese down, ever. I can eat it almost anywhere at any time -- seriously. A few weeks ago my friends at Sargento sent me a box of their new low-fat cheese products to review. (Thank you!) As I devoured this delicious gift, I wondered: Is there a more perfect food than cheese?
Oh, cheese, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
Nachos, enchiladas and grilled cheese sandwiches, oh my!
On a tuna melt, or all alone, on a pizza or in a calzone!
You’re the perfect complement to a glass of wine; loaded on French fries is also just fine.
I’ll put you on a burger or sandwich, to make it better, doesn’t matter if you’re Swiss, American, Colby or cheddar.
I like it stringed, shredded, melted and sliced, no matter how you serve it, you’ve got me enticed.
Something about cheese just makes me think in a sing-song tone. During my weeklong cheese bender, I realized there is nothing cheese doesn’t make better. I asked several people and none of them could think of anything cheese didn’t go well with. So, I put this question to you, my little cheeseheads: Is there anything that doesn’t go with cheese?
And I leave you with this final chunk of cheese poetry, a Haiku just for you:
Twinkling yellow wheel
A delicious mellow meal
Cheese: Food of the Gods
Write your own cheese Haiku and post it below (First and third lines: 5 syllables, second line: 7 syllables). Or write a Haiku about your favorite food. Keep it cheesy! --Shawn McKee, staff writer

Chunky peanut butter and cheese sandwich grilled in butter is a marvelous melting of flavor. Also the addition of a few sweet raisens tucked in are interesting.
Cheese rules my meals, too, and if not included with some kind of bread it seems my fare is incomplete. I agree there is very little that can't be complemented with cheese. My overall favorite for rich flavor is smoked gouda.

Try chunky cheese dipped in a sauce of tomato ketchup and pepper sauce. Yummy. I eat a block of cheese dipped in this sauce.

You said it all...cheese is the food of Gods! To: "necktraction"...I'm astounded at your comment about Canada having only cheddar to offer. Where in Canada is the rock under which you live? I'm Canadian & have lived in 3 provinces, all of which have amazing Artisan cheesemakers. The cow, sheep & goat cheeses they make are available in almost every major city across the country! You may want to ask your local deli or grocer to seek out products from Little Qualicum Cheese Works, Natural Pastures, Gort's Gouda, Moonstruck Organic Cheese or Salt Spring Island Cheese. These are just a few of the BC cheesemakers but there are many more in Alberta, Ontario & Quebec who are also outstanding artisans!
