My title here at eDiets means that I’m a "creative" person, but not usually a writer. I was asked to be a guest blogger so here I am trying my hand at blogging...

The topic for my blog comes from a subject very close to my heart -- April 30 is my 2nd wedding anniversary. My husband and I are going away for our anniversary; we are scuba divers so we are heading to the Keys.

With that being said we decided to give each other presents early. I gave my husband (most useful) a watch that he’s been wanting for a while now and he gave me (smartest. gift. ever.) a housekeeper to come once a month to clean our condo. Isn’t that awesome?

And so that made me think: What the best present you've received for a special occasion (anything counts -- an anniversary, birthday, lost weight, graduation, championship, etc.). Maybe it was the silliest, funniest, craziest, sexiest, smartest or most useful kind of gift, but whatever it was... share! Trust me; you will just give people ideas for the next occasion coming up!

Best gift EVER? Hmmm...my favorite was also my watch-which I adore! But I will have to say the best was a day at the spa after my 3rd child was born (a bit traumatically I might add). Peaceful surroundings, being fed lunch, the pampering...so appreciated!!

My BEST gift ever was my 50th birthday present. My husband took me to the Bahamas where I took a shark awareness scuba diving class on my birthday. Yes, I dove with the sharks! Awesome! I have a video and many pictures, so I can enjoy that memories over and over.

I don't mind when I get goofy gifts from friends and family, unless they come from my husband. He, typically, buys what he likes, regardless of what I may like or want. It really makes me mad. I would rather get something I want or need thann some stupid tshatshke that I have no interest in. I have so many oddball items from 22 years of being with this man. He still does not get that I am practical. I have enough junk in my house. I don't need more.

A Birthday Cake!
I alwayd "do" for other peoples birthdays, bake, prepare a party, make a meal... On my birthday, I don't want to work. One year my then husband decided to suprise me with a bought cake. He sugested we invite some friends around & I told him I didn't want to, I don't want to work on my birthday. He called his mother to find out how to bake a cake, so as not to spoil the suprise of the bought one - His tasted better too!

This is for Darin, hey....a maid is still a nice gesture even for a stay at home mom, those kids drive a woman crazy pulling stuff out all the time. Stay home with the kids for a while, not just a day try a week they will run over you. Maybe you will appreciate her a little more. Another thing we women aren't mind readers, make some suggestions of gifts that you would like to your wife and kids. Maybe they just don't know that you like gifts. Read the Five Love Languages By Chapman this will give you some insight to your families Love Languages. Have a great day. The best gift i received was having a special pampered day. Loved it.

Sometimes, it's so hard to find something for someone who has everything! I did get some ideas from this blog, though. I got the impression that practical gifts and "extra time" (in the form of pampering, not having to do chores, etc.) are always a good thing. So, I ended up getting my husband something that he absolutely enjoys...time with his friends and family. He hasn't been able to "hang out" and relax much since he's been in school, but since he graduated last week, I figured we could have a "double" party, graduation and birthday. It was great for him to be with friends he doesn't see much and to be able to enjoy our home without having to do anything in it (no hammering, no mowing, no painting...)! I also got him somethig for his new pet turtle...practicality is always a good choice. As far as my mom goes, spending time with her and taking her out on a "mother-daughter" tea and crumpets lunch was wonderful for Mother's Day. She got to spend time with me by herself, then she got to spend time with my brother and sister-in-law in Naples, then we all met up with her and had a BBQ in which she didn't have to lift one finger! She was so happy! She had all her children and her husband with her and didn't have to do anything but enjoy it :-) As far as my favorite gift goes, I must say it was the time my husband and I spent in a Savannah Bed and Breakfast for our Honeymoon...we both just got to really relax and enjoy each other for a whole week without any responsibilities. I don't think we've been able to ever have that peace of mind again! Well, hope this blog keeps on going and giving more people great ideas for gift-giving!

My best present was for my 50th birthday. I was afraid my best friend would try and do a surprise party for me (which I did not want) so I told my significant other that I wanted to be out of town for my birthday. I told him to surprise me. He told me the days I needed to take off of work and then he planned everything. He told me to pack my passport, what kind of clothes to bring and what the weather should be at the time. I wanted to be surprised so I closed my eyes when we checked in and it wasn't until they said something on the plane, did I know that we were going to Germany. We spent my actual birthday in Munich (my grandparents were from Germany but I had never been there) and then we were off on another plane ride to Italy. But the big surprise was when we were in the taxi and we rounded the corner and there was a huge cruise ship- my surprise 50th birthday trip was a Mediterranean cruise! It was a trip of a lifetime with many wonderful memories. My SO is pretty special - I think I'll keep him!
