Open Letter to Peanut Butter

An open letter to peanut butter, in honor of National Peanut Butter Lovers' Day, March 1...

Dear Peanut Butter (is it OK if I call you PB?),

I just wanted to take a quick minute to tell you how much I love you. Seriously, we've known each other forever and I don't think I've ever properly thanked you for being you.

Ever since I was a little curly-haired girl, you've been there for me, PB. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. In my Strawberry Shortcake lunch box, at snack time on Ritz crackers and late at night by the spoonful. You're my favorite part of Reese's, the perfect cookie flavor and you even make celery worth eating.

You've stuck with me through the years, growing up from Strawberry Shortcake to brown bags to insulated little coolers. You've never complained that it's typically only when I'm too busy to put together a decent (sorry) meal, that I reach for you and your buddy, Grape Jelly. Never fail, you're always there for me in a pinch, and I really do appreciate that.

PB, I've known you longer than even any of my closest friends. We've stuck together through the creamy and crunchy times (did I ever thanked you for helping me get that gum out of my hair?), and I just want you to know that no matter how many healthy, boring, "diet" turkey sandwiches I have for lunch, just know I'd rather be with you.

Happy Peanut Butter Lovers' Day, and I hope you enjoy the video below.

Your buddy,
Dorian Wagner

The alsolute best food that is so available to everyone. I really like the peanut butter pie. First time was in Loewes, Delaware about 10 years ago. I have made different peanut butter pie recipes and they are all fantastic.

Does anyone know WHY so many of today's children are PB allergic? It creeps-me-out a bit, since PB was a staple in the diets of virtually all kids in the past 2 generations.

Nut allergies present many dangers. Not just for people who suffer, but for owners of restaurants, food manufacturers and the people who sell them ingredients. If anyone of them along the chain slips up and does not provide full disclosure, more people can get hurt or even die.

MMMM!!! I love Peanut Butter and feel sorry for those that are allergic to it since it happens to be an excelelnt source of fiber and protein in a healthy diet. My heart goes out to those of you that are allergic to it! But as anyone would know, peanuts grown as a plant, and an allergen is sometimes plant based, so therefore may be a reason for the allergy to peanut butter. Some people with Eczema(Atopic Dermititis) are allergic to the oil it produces and is in the jars when they settle. So there are many reasons that a person may be allergic to peabut butter. My son is and he has Eczema, he is not supposed to eat it because it makes him itch and break out from the oil. But my son eats it anyways, knowing what will happen but thank GOD he dont have a real bad reaction to it no longer. Only mild now.

As a child our family travelled to Europe a lot-I used to always bring my own PB from home in my suitcase. Just in case.....

Peanut butter can kill. All nuts can kill. I urge every person out there to understand the dangers of nut allergies, and how to keep those who are allergic out of harms way.

When my children were small, we always had peanut butter. It was a staple in my house growing up, as well. One day my mother called to say she was going to the store before she came over to visit the kids. She asked me if I needed anything while she was out, and I answered that we needed some peanut butter. She came in hauling $100.00 worth of groceries. She just figured that if I was out of peanut butter, I must not have ANY food in the house! Funny how we depend on some things as "staple items"
PB is still one of my favorites, and I'm happy to say that none of my family are allergic!

Hear! Hear! I can definitely relate to the article--- Peanut butter is one of the 5 foods I would need with me to be happy on a deserted island! ;)
It's a treat that I can feel good about since it actually has great nutritional value... If you're trying to lose some lbs. (like me)it's a satisfying snack that can help you resist the sugary stuff!

Peanut butter takes hiccups away! Just a little taste takes them away immediately. I have used this many times and also given it to my granddaughters. They can't get over how fast it works!

Peanut Butter! The reason why kids are allergic is because they live in a clean obsessed society that uses toxic chemicals to clean. I find peanut allergies bewildering! Anyone could eat peanut butter back in the day. It could be all the medicines and new vaccinations/antibiotics kids are bombarded with.

I love Peanut Butter in any form,
sandwiches, pies, straight from the jar, anyway or anywhere. I am very allergic to nuts but Peanuts are not nuts, they are beans. They grow in the ground like potatoes and nuts grow on trees.
