Since when has it been politically OK to make negative comments about thin women (because men don't get them!), but not fat women? I mean let's get real, does anyone really believe the adjective skinny is a compliment? It's not my fault I missed the boat when they were handing out Beyonce hips, J-Lo glutes and Dolly-chests, but that doesn't make me underweight!

Please tell me that your kidding , how can being called skinny be an insult , skinny is in shape , not over weight , you can buy the size you need, You need to find a real insult and take more time to be grateful for the things around you , flowers , blue sky and music. It totally ok not to have something to complain about , even if the world thinks otherwise. good luck with life.

"Skinny" is a label that reinforces a poor self image just as much as insulting someone for being overweight. NO NAME CALLING!

Sometimes when i am outdoors running, i pass total strangers who make idiotic remarks like "You're too skinny, you shouldn't be running." This astonishes me (for the record, i am a normal size, slim but not emaciated by any means). I wonder if these same people go up to overweight people in fast-food restaurants and tell them that they're fat and they should drop their cheeseburgers and fries. I hope not...that would be incredibly rude! But where i live, it's open season on thin people. It doesn't bother me too much, i just don't understand it.

Your articles are very informative. I am very health concious. I enjoyed the article about artificial sweeteners. I never use any of them. Thanks.

I totally agree with Renee. I'm 5' 6" and around 105 lbs. I'm constantly told that I'm too thin and need to gain some weight. After hearing that for over 30 years, it's gets a little old!! The problem is that it's not so easy to gain that weight, but is too easy to lose it. A terrible case of the flu took 10 lbs off over two years ago and I haven't managed to gain that back yet. I do consider being called skinny an insult and have felt like an outcast on more than one occassion because of it. I wish that people would just learn to love themselves for what they are, skinny or not.
